I wonder whether people have noticed two choirs were singing. The first 11 minutes were performed by Group A, and the rest, by Group B. Group A had members from Winston Salem Youth Chorus. The camera got a lot of close-up footage of those young choristers.

23:09-23:33 is very nicely handled in this performance! Why mention that part? I take it to be the litmus test for performances of this piece. Stand way back and try to picture the whole piece as "one object," as Mozart is said to have conceived his music, and minute 23 (the second part of the Trio) stands out as "the point" of the 40th.

Choral performance, in my humble opinion, not up to par and with various inaccuracies... It is certainly due to the fact that it is performed by many choirs (with different vocal styles and settings) that are put together and which then, physically, is not possible to have the time necessary to take care of the details and a vocality that is as homogeneous as possible.

ALL this criticism is fair However , try and sing something like it , I at 84 lover of opera and music in all its genre prefer to PRAISE than to downgrade ,it encourage us ALL to do better don,t you think?

Sang this with performance ensemble and orchestra in high school - I can still sing my Alto 2 part (and sometimes tenor) for most songs. One of the most pivotal pieces of music in my life. Stunning to listen like this.

We’re singing this on 17th November to commemorate the month of the Holy Souls. Looking forward to it. This is a huge amount of singers and considering from different musical groups, is very well blended.
